• center for wooden boats (south lake union) - portage bay cafe is nearby
• gasworks park (fremont) - interview with the landscape architect

• ny times, 36hrs in seattle

in town for 5ish days - some of the above plus maybe one or two of these:

• snoqualmie falls (north bend)
• mount rainier (75mi south)
• mount st. helens (180mi south)
• port townsend (drive + ferry)
• ferry to bainbridge island (ferry)

in town for a whole week! - some of the above, plus:

• portland (oregon) - it's understated. take amtrak.
• vancouver, bc (canada) - bring a passport. take amtrak.
• victoria, bc (canada) - bring a passport. take the clipper.
• san juan islands (drive + ferry) - it's the end of the united states.
• oregon coast (go see where the goonies was filmed - astoria)

• agua verde paddle club - kayaking in lake union; eating delicious yam tacos.
• canoeing on lake washington - from uw boat center. cheap! and you can go through the arboretum.

• tamarind tree - vietnamese (i.d.)
• long provincial - vietnamese (downtown)
• tilth - organic, kinda fancy, unforgettably good (wallingford)
• joule - korean-french fusion (wallingford)
• ray's boathouse - killer views! mostly seafood (ballard)
• sutra - we love it here so much. great people. hidden gem of a chef. (wallingford)
• tutta bella - great for kids. really awesome neopolitan pizza. (4 locations)
• portage bay cafe - breakfast and lunch. (3 locations)
